Anthroposophic health and social care is an integrated approach to health, medicine, social care and education. It includes principles of social and environmental sustainability.

Anthroposophic medicine is a holistic approach to medicine. It is an extension of orthodox medical practice, rather than an alternative. In addition to conventional and anthroposophic treatments, therapies are widely used.

Social care encompasses Social Therapy - an integrated approach to care, education, guidance and life-sharing for children and adults with special needs.

There are 600 centres in over 40 countries working with Anthroposophic principles in social care. In the UK and Ireland alone there are over 50 Camphill centres, 5 Garvald centres, The Ruskin Mill Educational Trust incorporating The Hiram Academy and Freeman, Glasshouse and Ruskin Mill Colleges, and numerous other educational and care initiatives as Nutley and Pericles in Sussex.
